;character basics
Name: Sirius Black Gender: male Age: fifteen Year: fifth Blood: pureblood House: Gryffindor Wand: Yew, 12 inches, Unicorn tail hair core, good for Transfiguration Other: Animagus; Form: big shaggy black dog
;character's appearance
Celebrity/Model: Gaspard Ulliel Body Type: tall and athletic Hair: dark brown, short Eyes: gray Height: 6'3" Other: Overall: With the aristocratic and somewhat haughty features of the Blacks, Sirius is very good-looking. On his thin face his dark gray eyes are what stand out the most. They're perfect in shape and penetrating. Though he may not like it, his eyes have a way of showing his feelings despite what he says he feels. However, he can lie very well and his eyes will not give away his dishonesty. They are possibly his best feature even though they're just gray in color. But a lot of girls would argue that they love his smile best. Sirius's teeth are white and almost too perfectly straight. His smile is said to be charming and bright, and it's constantly on his face since he's always laughing. His nose and ears are well proportioned with the rest of his face as well, which gives Sirius a manicured, sophisticated look. Then there's Sirius's hair, which is a dark brown in color and always slightly messy, but strangely it manages to be messy in the most orderly way. It's no where near as disorderly as James's hair though. When Sirius is feeling depressed he'll let his hair grow long so it falls around his face, trying desperately to hide him as if it has a mind of its own. But when he's happy and content, which is most of the time, his hair is shorter. So normally, a tuft of hair sticks up on the top back of his head, the back is slightly scruffy, and the sides are smooth. Then his bangs fall into his eyes with a sort of casual elegance that says he puts no effort into looking so good, and he doesn't, it just comes naturally. Sirius's figure is tall and athletic; he is thin but toned. He walks always with his head held high, projecting himself ahead of others as though he deserves to be first in everything. His posture is very perfect, and he strides always with an awing casualty and grace as women drool over him and men admire him.
;about the character
Personality:Sirius, like any normal person, has many qualities that make him who he is. He was accepted into Gryffindor, and for good reason because he is very brave. He isn't afraid of much. His courage stands on many different levels though. He's very brave in the way that he will stand up for his friends no matter what. Friendship is very important to him and there's nothing he wouldn't do for a friend, including die for them. Included in this, Sirius is fearless in a duel, whoever he's going up against. Then, Sirius is also brave in the way of outgoing. He's very loud, always sharing his opinion or sarcastic remarks during class whenever possible or else back in the common room with his fellow Gryffindors. But it's all in good fun and he gets a lot of laughs out of it, even from teachers. Besides speaking out in class, Sirius's courage carries him to being impulsive. He doesn't always think before he acts, or plan things out. He prefers to act on instinct, and his instinct often gets him into trouble. Sirius isn't afraid to break rules, and never hesitates to sneak out past curfew or become an unregistered Animagi with his friends, all unknown to the professors. But a lot of the time, Sirius and his friends do get caught. So he's constantly in detention for some fault or another.
Sirius is a very laid back guy. He never gets too worked up about things, and he hardly ever gets truly angry. If ever he is angry, it's only frustration at his own stupid actions. But he is a very fun person to be around and will always liven up a boring atmosphere with jokes, pranks, or games. He can't stand awkward silences or sitting around with nothing to do in the common room. He'll always end up finding some activity to participate in and therefore is always busy. Even if that something is messing with Snivellus--one of his favorite activities.
Despite what some people might think from how he acts, Sirius is actually very intelligent. How else do you think he managed to become an Animagi at the age of fifteen? He gets good marks in all of his classes, even History of Magic which he sleeps in. (He found another way to record notes and pass the boring subject--another smart idea of his.) His mind is filled with superfluous ideas and thoughts. He has a pretty good imagination as well. And don't ever challenge him in the area of intelligence because he'll beat you in any argument.
Sirius, as everybody knows, is a proficient at charming women. Whatever you may know him as--player, man whore, womanizer--it's all true. With a combination of his good looks, charm, wit, and a mouth that to any girl could 'never lie', Sirius manages it all quite easily. If he's not with his friends or picking on Snivellus, then he can be found around Hogwarts with some very pretty girl, most likely snogging. He's not a bad guy, and he doesn't treat girls badly, he simply enjoys dating and girls and just having fun.
One of the first things you may notice upon meeting Sirius Black is that he's a bit of an arrogant jerk. Not because he's wealthy and pure-blooded though, he could care less about blood, but he does still think he is better than most others. He probably got such a big head from being so good-looking and hardly ever failing at anything. He succeeds at almost everything--girls, Quidditch, classes, duels... And he's not very good at being modest. He shows off quite a bit, maybe not as much as James for he isn't constantly messing up his hair to make it look like he just stepped off a broom, but he does let people know he's great at everything he does. He struts around Hogwarts like he owns the place, and now that he's in seventh year he thinks he really does. However, in the past year, he has gotten better at being less conceited. He doesn't show off quite as much and doesn't purposefully brag about his accomplishments anymore.
Despite his arrogance, once you get to know Sirius, you'll realize he's a really great person. He's sweet and gentle, smart and outgoing, brave and honest and sincere. He would never purposefully hurt some one, except for Snape and his Dark Arts obsessed friends. And he has the right idea about things. You won't ever hear anyone calling Sirius Black a coward or a traitor because he's not. He would never in a million years betray his friends or join this 'Dark Lord' that everyone is talking about, because Sirius knows what's right and what's wrong, and he acts on it.
Fears: He doesn't have very many fears, but he wouldn't like admitting to any of them. However, if he had to give one, it'd have to be that he's scared of sharing his feelings with others. Not his opinions and it's not the case with everything, but he thinks he'll come off as weak if he were to share anything too deep and sensitive about himself. He is also slightly scared of not living up to other people's expectations, or even his own expectations.
Flaws: Sirius is arrogant, impulsive, and outspoken. His outlook on the opposite sex is slightly corrupted and he thinks he can get any girl. He also disobeys his professors, is constantly sneaking out and pulling pranks, and therefore is also constantly in detention.
Weaknesses: Sirius's weaknesses would of course be women and sex, and alcohol slightly. He may be young at fifteen, but he's matured quickly and has already gotten himself into these hobbies.
Character History: Sirius was the first child born to Orion and Walburga Black--cousins and both pure-blood maniacs. He was brought up to believe that the only worthy people in this world are pure-blood wizards and witches. Everyone else is scum. This was hammered into him as a child and until the age of seven he believed every word of it. His brother, Regulus, two years younger than himself, and his cousins, were his only play-mates for most of his childhood. They too had been taught that they were better than others, half-bloods, muggle-borns, etc., and their only effect on Sirius was to make him doubt that pure-bloods were so great. Several of his cousins and sometimes even his brother did not appeal to Sirius with their rudeness, sneers, and haughty attitudes. Sirius was a good kid and could tell they were not very nice, but still he played with them and had fun most of the time. Unfortunately, a lot of the snobbishness rubbed off on him.
Finally, Sirius turned eleven and was accepted into Hogwarts of course. He arrived at the school and already many children knew him. Slytherin students came up to him before the sorting and greeted him, his cousins and friends, for they all expected him to get into Slytherin. But when Sirius sat on the stool with the raggedy old Sorting Hat atop his head, the hat did not yell out the name of the House all of Sirius's family had been in. It yelled 'Gryffindor' and from that moment Sirius knew he was going to be different from all his other relatives. However nervous he was at being alienated from his cousins, he entered proudly into Gryffindor House.
Soon after the Sorting, Sirius found out how very disappointed his parents had been to find out he'd gone to Gryffindor, but they did not say much on the matter. Over the years though, Sirius could tell he was becoming more and more of a disappointment to them with every mention of his own friends and opinions. He didn't care though, he was happy. He'd made immediate friends with James Potter, also in Gryffindor, as well as Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew. The four became incredibly close. However, in their perfect world they noticed that Remus was always disappearing some where and looked very ill all the time. Everyone was curious about him, and finally in their third year, James and Sirius discovered that Remus was a werewolf. However they stayed his friend, they didn't care about his condition, and they kept his secret. By the end of their fourth year, James, Sirius, and Peter (with the help of the other two) had all managed to become unregistered Animagi, that way they could run around with Remus during full moons and make his transformations more bearable. They managed to keep Remus under control and sane, and so the four had a lot of fun. They learned more about Hogwarts, the grounds, and Hogsmeade than any other students ever had and they put all this information down in the 'Marauder's Map'--their own creation. They had also given themselves nicknames that referred to their Animagus forms (Sirius was Padfoot, James was Prongs, Remus was Moony, and Peter was Wormtail) and had taken to calling themselves the Marauders.
Also by the end of his fourth year, Sirius could barely stand his parents and their ideals, so he often stayed with the Potters during holidays where he was warmly welcomed. Back at Hogwarts for his fifth year, Sirius, along with his Gryffindor mates and the Slytherin lot, got caught in a strange situation. In a quarrel, the power of everyone's curses put together sent the group flying back in time. They found themselves at Hogwarts almost a century back in time and not knowing what to do. Godric Gryffindor decided that they could remain there as students and continue their education if/until the professors figured out how to send them all back to the future. But now their problems include settling into their new, or should I said old, surroundings.
Sample RP: Sirius stood his ground as London yelled at him. He looked her steadily in the eye, though how he found courage to do even that, he did not know. He felt...well a lot of things at the moment. He was scared slightly by her intimidating demeanor when just a second ago she was quiet and sweet. He was bewildered by her sudden action of blasting her head off, and anxious, apprehensive even that she might just raise her hand and slap him in the face. More importantly though, he was scared that he did not have an answer for her, because everything she said was true. He could yell back at her, deny it, argue, but what good would that do? He could not truthfully deny the wrongs he had done. But what could he say to all that to help his case? There couldn't be much. And above all, he was ashamed of himself like he never had been before. He was burning inside with utter despise for his own actions. He had not been faithful or trusting, he had overreacted about Regulus when she had trusted him enough to not overreact about him on other occasions. He had treated her horribly and unfairly. Now, how could summon any sort of words to say to her, especially while she was in this rage, that would help him at all. In the pit of his stomach, he felt completely empty, hallow--perhaps the feeling was guilt. And Sirius knew that he didn't even want to help himself out of this one, even if he could, because making up excuses wasn't justifiable. It was cowardly and selfish.
With all of this rushing around inside him, Sirius's face contorted into a look that literally showed all his feelings at once. His brow was furrowed slightly, though not in anger, but in disappointment. His mouth hung sadly, his lips parted absently. His downcast dark gray eyes showed the anger and shame he felt toward himself, a feeling that was until now unknown to him through his superior upbringing. Perhaps shame would be what could save him now though. Perhaps pity would come to him if London realized how he regretted his idiocy. But that seemed impossible still, and so Sirius nodded his head stiffly and solemnly. He searched for words to say to her, but could not come up with much. Finally he said in a somber tone, "I don't think there are any words I could string together that will lead you to forgive me, not after I have heard it all from your point of view. I was stupid to try, just as I was stupid to hurt you." He paused and added, "But thank you...for helping me to understand."
Leaning forward, he meant to leave her, but remembering something he leaned back. His hand that had long been yanked from London's face at the beginning of her screamed accusations, reached into an inside pocket of his dress robes and pulled out a small rectangular box, covered in midnight blue velvet. He offered the box to London, and then turned and walked back toward the door and started down the tightly spiraling staircase, his hands shoved in his pockets and his thoughts on his rueful mistakes. He did not look back.
London had not even gotten to see the rest of his surprise, upon which he had cast a Disillusionment charm and which sat, invisible, on the other side of the tower. He hoped that she would first look inside the velvet box at least before she chucked it off the tower, which is what he assumed she would do. It was not at all how he had meant to present his gift to her, but he figured he'd give it to her anyway, since he had no need for it, he had no other girl to give it to. Hopefully she would open the small box and find the diamond necklace he had bought for her, had had specially made for her, with the small dog pendant (like his Animagus form) in the center of the sparkling jewels, it also encrusted with authentic diamonds. And if she were to look back inside the box she would find a neat scrap of paper, written upon it in his own hand the words: Whenever I am not around, I will always be near.
